Free iPod

burnout

Sign up to receive a free iPod.

Update 1 (7/25/04)

Thanks to all those (21!) that signed up using my link!

I currently have 4 of my referrals with completed offers, and, no doubt, will
have 5 quite soon. Odds are on my side this time. I am, however, awaiting my
reply from freeipods.com because I never got an offer confirmation e-mail after
the 3 days. I did the AOL trial offer, but I’ve not heard of any difficulties
as I had.

So, as I patiently wait, I would like to offer my readers the opportunity to
get a free iPod a bit more easily. Send
me an e-mail with your very own referral link. I will use it to link to
freeipods.com for all the links, a way to say thanks.

I will be updating as I go through the process further.

Update 2 (7/28/04)

Your Status

Well, with 21 referrals, you’d think I could get 5 to follow through
with completing an offer. Ummmm, nope. So while I wait [taps fingers on desk],
I wanted to say the AOL Trial didn’t work for me. Something got screwed
up along the way and freeipods.com never gave me credit for it, so I decided
to do the Ebay thing. Registered a new user, found a digital camera and bid
for $0.01. I was highest bidder (it had a reserve price and I was below it BTW),
for a couple of hours. Later on today I got the confirmation e-mail and my account
was credited. No credit card required, virtually no risk of spending money,
and quite rapid. I would highly recommend doing the Ebay offer, for
sure.

I ask of you, those 17, that are reading this and have yet to complete their
offer, please do so. Thanks a bunch.

Update 3 (8/27/04)

Congratulations! You have currently completed all requirements to get your totally FREE iPod.

Yippee! I’m so happy.

They love me — they really love me! Thank you, jgmitchell, for being number five (your first name isn’t Johnny I hope).
If there’s anything I could do, I might try.

I’m currently in the confirmation process; I hope everything pans out, I’m
sure it will. According to Freeipodguide.com,
the confirmation and shipment could take a week or more, but I’m willing to
wait. I started this mess at the beginning of July and I took two months to
get my referrals to do their offers, so patience is extremely important. Oh,
and don’t get too obsessive. I hope I’ll use the darn contraption.

I will post a shipment update, hopefully soon.

Update 4 (9/20/04)

free iPod order

After a long and arduous process of e-mails to the freeipod.com customer
service department, they have allowed me to order my 100% free (if time is of
no value, which it is) iPod. I chose the 20gb Apple over the HP version of the
same and any one of the Minis.

I just can’t wait to get it in my hands, but I’m afraid I’ll be waiting. Supposedly
it’s taking a month from order to delivery, but what’s another month? You can
be sure I will post some nice pictures, when I get it, in a different post, this one is too long already.

  1. Evan says:

    Did you actually recieve one?

  2. MK says:

Evan- No, I have not. I am in the process of getting my offer verified. The gist of the deal is you have to refer five people to the site that complete an offer (i.e. sign up for AOL, the best option and no money spent), complete an offer yourself and that’s it.

For proof check out John’s free iPod mini. It’s all the proof I need. More links and details are to be found at Forevergeek.

So far, I am waiting on my offer to be verified by freeipod.com, and I need my referrals to do their offers too. When I finally get it I post more details.

I wish my readers were as kind… they’re to busy debating their political mumbo-jumbo….

  4. Andrew says:

    Mike,

So far you’ve only pulled 1 one referer in to my offer… but I’m sure more will come :-)

    Mike,

What do I need to do to get the ball rolling? I’d like to get an iPod. Sorry about not answering my maniac.mansion@gmail.com account — it’s more or less a throwaway address or catch-all for spam.

  6. MK says:

    Kartooner,

Don’t worry about not replying, no biggie. I am, however, still waiting for a soul to complete their offer.

As far as “what to do to get the ball rolling,” if you have yet to attempt an offer, do so. Freeipodguide.com has some helpful info on things to do when going about obtaining your iPod. In regards to the offers they say:

AOL w/ MusicNet: Sign up for their 45 day free trial. If you are not satisfied, you are charged nothing.

Ancestry.com: Sign up for their 14 day free trial. If you are not satisfied, you are charged nothing.

Video Professor: This costs $7 or so. It is also a risk-free trial.

RealRhapsody: This costs $1. It is also a risk-free trial.
There are a number of other options.

Choose the one you are most interested in!

If you have already completed an offer but have not been credited, email them through the FAQ section of freeipods.com. I hope that answers you question. If not, ask another.

  7. julie says:

wish they had made this offer in canada … *sigh*

  8. uninvited says:

‘rumours’ are that they only succesfully shipped about 4000 free ipods, and since this thing got reported by the big sites (wired, etc..) they had no stock left and are ‘waiting for Apple’ to re-supply.

    so good luck.. :/

  9. MK says:

Uninvited, I’m sure it will be about a month until they actually ship mine, and I don’t really have a problem with that as long as I do get it.

I’ve heard of a lot of people complaining because of how long it takes to ship, but think of this. They’re not going to ship each iPod individually (meaning as they come in). The orders are sent in bulk to the supplier (eCost is where most have been from according to reports and pictures. Before freeipods.com was well known each bulk order was low, now they are quite large and growing larger. So the waiting is inevitable, and from my perspective understandable.

  10. Brad says:

I had may order “placed” about 2 months ago and still no sign of getting mine in the near future…I really wish they didn’t go so public with it since they can’t ship them out on time.

  11. MK says:

Brad: From my experience so far it is an extremely long process. I started this whole thing in the middle of July.

Unfortunately I have no auspicious words for you. Just hang in there and try to divert your attention, maybe it will show up when you least expect it. That’s what I’m hoping for myself.

When you do get it I would love to know, so come on back and declare it.
