Good Chili

I do enjoy cooking; in fact if I weren’t a designer I’d be a chef. There’s this chili mix I frequently pick up, and it works great on hurried week (or weak) nights.

Carroll Shelby’s world-famous chili kit is just delicious, given the meat is fresh and other ingredients and accompaniments are half decent, that is. I’ve tried making chili with my own special blend of spices, but this is much better than anything I’ve done. While cheesecake, Jack Daniels glazed steak, and southwest pasta are my specialties, I leave my chili to Carroll Shelby. Just don’t forget to pick up a box of cornbread mix, preferably Jiffy.

Have you tried it? What’s your chili recipe, if you don’t mind sharing?

I think these days more and more men are the designated cook’s of the house. It’s a good thing, not that women aren’t good cooks because many are.

I wanted to add an accompaniment that I always use in my chili, and on various other foods. Hot sauce. Everyone that likes hot sauce has a favorite. Mine is Iguana XXX Habanero Pepper Sauce. This stuff is pretty damn hot, but not the hottest, and it’s not artificial heat. Sauce is all about flavor, and this stuff has got it.

Considering I’m the designated cook in the household it might sound strange that I haven’t made chili yet. When I do, I’ll gladly share the recipe that I have on hand. It won’t knock your socks off, but I sure like it.

I think I’ll be trying the Chili kit you recommended, looks good. As for the things I’ve made, here’s a brief list:

    1. Carribean Jerk chicken and green beans.
    2. Southwestern Stroganoff (excellent)
    3. Meatloaf
    4. Sloppy Joes

And the list goes on. Southwestern Stroganoff is the easiest of the bunch, preparation-wise and tastes great.
